As the research function in UE is strengthened under CERA’s umbrella, a need has risen for wider dissemination of the internationally accepted research methodology and the codes that govern research. In this regard, a policy on research ethics has been developed for UE. The development process involved the CERA team and coordinator CERA, with assistance from Dr. Jean B. Hache, consultant from the Canada Pakistan Basic Education Project. A meeting was held for the validation of the policy, with participants including Directors, Principals and CERA Team Members.

The opening remarks by the VC encouraged the participants to take part in the validation process. After a recapitulation of CERA’s history, Dr. Hache said that CERA is now helping other UE campuses establish their own research centers. The capacity building in terms of research that CERA has brought about in UE was highly appreciated by the faculty and staff. The policy was shared with all the participants, and feedback was given by the participants both on the policy and CERA activities. The researches currently being carried out in CERA were also discussed and updates and highlights on these projects were shared.
