The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Shukat Aziz, was pleased to announce building of the main campus of the University of Education at Okara. Following this declaration, the senior federal minister for defence, Rao Sikandar Iqbal inaugurated the university academic programmes in August 2005 at a temporary building at Okara where necessary facilities such as computer lab and science laboratories have been provided.

 Government of the Punjab has already transferred 200 acres of land to UE whereas the whole financial cover is being provided by the Higher Education Commission for the construction of the main campus. This campus is being planned by NESPAK and it will have a magnificent building consisting of specious class-rooms, a large central library, updated computer laboratories, and fully equipped science laboratories, and student and staff recreational club.
